![]() ![]() I won’t lie – this tree took me about two and a half weeks to complete. Our blue and red Christmas tree reminds of the classic ballet with all of it’s rich and sophisticated, saturated color. I used to take our daughter every year (hoping next year it’s back on). I’ve always loved the Nutcracker, which I’ve seen about 7 or 8 times. I wanted this year to have an elevated and sophisticated look that’s traditional and nostalgic – almost something that reminds me of Christmases of another era, of days of old. My mother has always been my decorating inspiration, with her classic, elegant taste. It’s funny how I didn’t even consider that this look is similar to hers until my sister pointed it out. The blue and red Christmas decor I’m using this year reminds me of my mother, she’s always used reds for as long as I can remember, and blues too of course. This year, I wanted to go bold and try something totally new, and well, it’s definitely bold. I’m used to a softer color palette (click here to see last year’s look) with the occasional pop of color. This was such a huge step out of my decorating comfort zone (I was a bit nervous when I started), but I’m so happy I took the leap. I love to use decorative trees, they’re a staple I rely on each year to decorate for Christmas and so easy to style and get an instant holiday look.Today is the day! Our blue and red Christmas tree with gold and silver accents is such a different look in our home this year, and we’re loving every detail. On our buffet, I usually love to group decorative trees in varying heights, and this year I kept things very similar to last year’s look with a collection of my favorite mercury glass trees and beaded trees. Gorgeous designer pillows in blue and white with gold detailing, from Arianna Belle, are so chic and elegant on our white sofas. The focus is always our Christmas tree and this year, our stunning new slim tree from Balsam Hill (similar) truly helped to set a magical stage in our home. ![]() Our living room is central to our open concept home, and every Christmas I love to make this space feel as welcoming and cozy as I can. They have true meaning in the Christian faith, and when I learned of their significance, it made me so happy to adorn our home with these beautiful colors.
